If you are travelling by car, bus or train, you need to reach Split or Drvenik, where you can take a ferry to Hvar. The ferry Split - Stari Grad (Hvar) takes cars, while the one sailing Jelsa - Hvar (town) is a catamaran.
The ferry departing from Drvenik for Sućuraj takes cars as well.
If you are headed to the island of Hvar by plane, the closest airports are Split and Dubrovnik. The Dubrovnik airport is about 100 km away from Drvenik, while Split airport is about 30 minutes away from the ferry port in Split. You can get to ferry ports from both airports by bus, car rental or taxi.

BY FERRY
Ferry lines Split – Stari Grad (Hvar) and Drvenik – Sućuraj (Hvar) are sailing on regular daily basis. Catamarans sail every day on Split – Jelsa and Split – Hvar lines.
The duration of the ferry sail from Split to Stari Grad is 105 min. During summer season it sails 4 – 7 times a day, while out of season ferry sails 3 – 4 times a day.
The duration of the ferry sail from Drvenik to Sućuraj is 25 min. During summer season it sails 12 – 20 times a day, while out of season ferry sails 6 – 7 times a day.
There are cross-island ferry lines for the isand of Hvar from the island of Korčula, Brač and Vis.
Hvar is also connected with ferry ports by a coastal boat line from Rijeka to Dubrovnik.
Along with the regular ferry lines, there are international seasonal ferry lines from Italy as well. There is a ferry line Ancona – Hvar and Pescara – Hvar.

BY CAR
If you are travelling by car from Germany, Austria, Slovenia or Hungary, take the highway A1 or drive along the Croatian coast to Split or Drvenik, from where you continue by ferry.

BY TRAIN
Train departing from Zagreb to Split is available 2 times a day, and your travel lasts 6 hours.
Split train station is located near the ferry port, so no additional transportation is needed.
